Before becoming a Toowoomba florist, my family were proud flower growers in the Darling Downs. For many years, we had a beautiful flower farm where we survived droughts, disease and fires. But as the tragedy of 9/11 hit, airports were shut down and the process of exporting our flowers came to a sudden halt. Due to this, our crops were left stranded on the airport tarmac, resulting in a massive loss.
As flower exporters, terrorism is not covered by insurance and so we decided to make some changes. I am a florist by trade therefore it made sense to establish a florist business. Toowoomba was such a lovely city that we couldn’t refuse the opportunity to open the doors of our florist shop here. The range of other businesses at Westridge Shopping Centre were especially helpful in the beginning and the people of Toowoomba were so appreciative of our florist shop. Amidst a new place and exciting plans for the future, everyone made us feel so welcome.
Toowoomba is the ideal location for a florist store. It’s no wonder we’re called the Garden City! The climate is lovely and it has some of the best flower growers in Queensland, as well as amazing flower displays in the parks and community. My family loves that it is a bustling city with a modern upbeat vibe and yet, remains a very friendly country town. It services a large area and we have many visitors from country folk to international travelers.
We are a very multicultural city and one of the things that I really love about being a Toowoomba Florist is meeting so many amazing people each day. Our customers become friends and we share in their joy and sadness. Being a florist, you get to know so much about people and we love our customers as much as we love creating wonderful memories for them. At Westridge Florist Toowoomba, we love working in an environment surrounded by stunning flowers and smiling faces.
Through great turmoil, our family was uprooted and our lives were changed, but I wouldn’t have my life any other way. After becoming a successful Toowoomba florist, I even have time to explore hobbies such as art, yoga and breeding purebred German Sheppard’s. I’ve had so many experiences and now I can work in a place I adore doing what I love.
You are always welcome to visit our Toowoomba florist shop to say hello and have a chat!
Until our next adventure,
